Atropos y TRRP
A quadcopter controlled by a home router running Linux. Origin of the TRRP platform (Trash Robotic Router Platform).
Atropos is a quadcopter built with a La Fonera 2201 router and OpenWrt as its main system, Nintendo Wii controller sensors for stabilisation and a PIC microcontroller for the motor signals. It won 2nd prize in the robotics contest at Campus Party 2011.
Telemetry is served from the router's own web server, with an HTML5 interface and reverse-AJAX notifications. Control goes over UDP and, later, over a custom protocol on WiFi beacon frames that avoids deauthentication attacks.
This is where TRRP (Trash Robotic Router Platform) is born: the idea of building robots by reusing everyday hardware. It was the basis for a long run of talks between 2013 and 2016, from RootedCON to Nuit du Hack and Hong Kong.
